A Really Nice Statue

Today’s featured product is a rattlesnake statue.  Why?  Because it is nice.  Not just nice but really nice.  In fact it is really, really nice.  It is made of cold cast bronze and is incredibly detailed.  Believe it or not it looks good anywhere. We know that because we have put it in different places and it looks good.  That’s because it is really, really nice.

An Extra Step in Customer Service

Customer service is the hallmark of any retail business.  The basics are not hard – do everything that you can to meet or exceed your customer’s expectations.   Here is a story where we pat ourselves on the back for our customer service.

We had a customer who ordered a statue from us.  Later he contacted us and told us that several years ago he had been in Dallas and saw a really nice statue of a boy and a dog.  He explained that he always wanted to get one just like it but never found it again.  He sent a picture of it (the one featured)  and asked if we knew where one could be obtained.  We went to work and were actually able to track down the original Chinese manufacturer who informed us that they had discontinued this statues a few years back.   However, they said that they still had the original mold and if it was in good condition they would make one.  The mold was in good shape, they cast the statue and shipped to the U.S. and we had a very happy customer.  We felt really good about that.

Could we do something like this for you?  Probably not. There was a lot of dumb luck involved.  But we make the effort.

Religious Statues For Holiday Gifts

The upcoming holiday season presents a great opportunity to give a gift that is truly appropriate –  Religious Statues.  There are many types to choose from and there are both indoor and outdoor statues.  These include statues of Jesus, Mary, Saints and Angels.

Religious statues make a meaningful statement to a recipient who accepts faith and Christian beliefs.  Give him or her a gift that will be remembered daily.

A sculpture of the Holy Family or an inspirational saint statue will be well received.

Turn Your Backyard into a Wildlife Refuge with Wild Animal Statues

Have you ever wanted your own wildlife refuge?  Perhaps you just have a fondness for lions and tigers and bears.  While it is not a practical possibility for most of us to own our own Neverland, there are some things you can do to bring the jungle or forest to your backyard.

For Forest Scenes

An area that is populated with large shrubs, shady trees and natural greenery like tall ornamental grasses is the perfect place to display animal statues such as lions, deer or tigers.  Nestle them in the foliage, peering out at passersby.  Place them on the edge of the garden plot as though they are emerging from the forest to survey the open plains in the early morning.

For Jungle Scenes

Combine trees with wide canopies with climbing vine plants to create a jungle atmosphere.  Choose from animals normally found in the jungle like panthers, elephants and gorillas in either relaxed or aggressive stances.  For smaller spaces, meerkats and foxes are suitable fixtures.  Bird statues also work well here.

At the Water’s Edge

For locations with ponds, swimming pools or reflecting pools, there are other statuary options.  Turtles, tortoises and playful bear cubs add a playful touch. If the location lends itself to a cooler interpretation, perhaps a polar bear statue is a better choice.

Specialty Items

Sometimes you have the perfect tree but it needs something extra. A lazy lioness pausing to rest in the branches or a playful bear cub seeming to scamper up the trunk will delight you and your guests.  To create the feel of the outback, try adding a few kangaroos.  If whimsy is your cup of tea, unicorns may be more to your liking.

Outdoor animal statues can be used in a variety of ways to enhance your outdoor home decor.

Using Outdoor Fountains to Spruce Up Your Home Decor

Using Outdoor Fountains to Spruce Up Your Home Decor

There is something about a fountain that lends a touch of elegance to almost any setting.

Front Porch

An outdoor fountain on a front porch or at the front entrance of your home gives the impression of sophistication and elegance.  Choose a style that suits your home and decor whether it is whimsical or traditional. Consider the size of the fountain, in relationship to the home.  If the fountain is too large for its surroundings, it can overwhelm and detract rather than enhance the scene. Sometimes a small fountain is sufficient.

Garden

If you have a garden, walkway or patio area, a garden fountain can be the perfect finishing touch to the landscaping.  Again, take care to blend the style of the fountain with its surroundings. If possible, situate the fountain so that it can be both seen and heard from a seating area.  The sound of running water can be soothing and create a nice atmosphere for those enjoying the outdoors. A fountain along a garden path breaks up the flora and gives you a chance to pause and reflect.

Wall Mounted Fountains

Some fountains are free-standing while others are mounted on walls. The wall mounted varieties can be added to any wall of the house and conserve space.  Like all fountains, they will need a power source which should be taken into consideration when selecting the mounting location.

Statues as Unique Gifts and Decor: Bring a Little Inspiration In To Your Home

Beethoven once said, “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.”

You can bring that wisdom right into your home with indoor statues of Beethoven and other musicians, writers, and leaders.

Trying to find unique ways to decorate your home often requires thinking outside of the box. Some of the world’s greatest minds were masters at doing this very thing, making themselves invaluable members of our society.  These great thinkers have been memorialized in statue form throughout history so that people can remember, admire and be inspired.   You can have statues of these great men and women to add distinction and inspiration to the decor in your home.

Mozart, Caesar, Michelangelo and Shakespeare are only some of the great names that you can place throughout your home.  These statues and busts are some of the greatest conversation starters you have ever seen.  Every person that visits your home will want to know where you got them.

Some of these are made of Cold Cast Bronze, while others are formed with designer resin and other materials.  All of them are cast with attention to fine detail to create a realistic look.  All statues are not created equal and when you want to have a big impact with your decor, shoot for only high quality statues.

Having a statue in your home is one of the best ways to inspire your young ones as well.  A well-placed statue of Shakespeare can trigger interest from a young man or woman at a very young age and instill a love of the arts.  The possibilities are endless there.

Another option is to place statues of former Presidents in the home.  It certainly does add an air of history to the room to have Abe Lincoln sitting on the mantle looking over the room with wisdom. Plato, Aristotle and others also make fine additions to your mantle or living room and fantastic conversation starters.  These great thinkers have always been effective home decor options because they are so classical in design.  Everybody can use a little class in the room, right?

Decorative Trinket Boxes – Something for Everyone

When searching for unique and personal decor items to reflect your personality simple decorative trinket boxes can make an attractive, yet useful addition to your decorating scheme.

Trinket or keepsake boxes of course are made to hold things.  This provides a use for decorative boxes, and the way they look make them ideal for tucking things away without cluttering up the area with unsightly stacks, totes or other storage ideas.

Decorative boxes can be found in all sorts of sizes and designs.  From tiny bejeweled boxes to larger decorated boxes you will find some sort of decorative box to be both functional and pretty for every room in your house.

If you have children you can find decorative boxes to store their favorite possessions and other things. These boxes will vary from simple to elaborate and will be able to match the decor of a child’s room.

For a living room a unique trinket box on the coffee table may make an unusual conversation piece.

If you’re a fan of unique decor items, then decorative boxes are the thing for you.  Made with everything from wood and metals to various resins   there are decorative boxes that will appeal to each individual style and will fit with any type of décor.

The great thing about decorative boxes is that they are pretty or unusual on the outside and can be used to keep things out of sight at the same time.

Add Authenticity With Antique Telephones

Any room can be made to look more interesting by adding authentic antique telephones.  Antique phones can even add some fun to more modern rooms. They can be real conversation starters!

Antique Pay Phones

Wall-mounted antique pay phones can add some fun to a game room. The old-fashioned black boxes with the rotary dials and hand held ear pieces are seldom seen today. It’s like having an entertaining history lesson hanging on the wall.

Antique Cradle Phones

Old telephones with a cradle and receiver have an elegant appearance. These are suited to living rooms, studies and bedrooms. Many are the heavy black bases with the traditional receiver linked by the coiled cord that many of us still remember. Others are the more elegant with an upright brass cradle and brass fittings on the receiver.

Antique Country Phones

Country cottages, farm houses and homes with a country décor should make use of antique country phones. Wall-mounted and table top versions are available, depending on your preferences. One style that will get a lot of attention is the old time country junction phone, complete with hand crank. Many of these phones come with rotary dials but you can find some with push button dialing.

Art Deco Phones

Art Deco phones had a more “modern” look and sometimes came in brighter colors. These can be fun for a teenager’s bedroom or any room done with an art deco theme. A popular choice includes the candlestick design which is a tall narrow base, resembling a candlestick with a side hanging receiver.

Something More Interesting Than Home Decor

Although we sell and blog about great unique gifts and nice home décor products such as wall art and animal statues we have come to discover that there are more interesting things to write about.  So we are once again fighting back our urge to write about teapots and bookends to blog about something else.

This time it is about a bear. A grizzly bear to be exact.  He was found as a cub next to his dead mother.  There was another cub, but unfortunately he died.  What to do with the surviving cub?  Well how about make it a member of the family.  The slideshow above shows the story, but here is the narrative:  The cub grew, and grew and grew some more.   He was so much a member of the family that he was the honored guest at Thanksgiving.  And he really liked water.  He was a wedding attendant (nothing is better than bear kisses).  And in the end life was beautiful.

Dog and Cat Diaries

CAT DIARY:

Day 983 of my captivity.   My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.  Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of.  However, they merely made condescending comments about what a ‘good little hunter’ I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of allergies.’ I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.  The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return.  He is obviously crazy.
