Using Bookends in Your Decorating Scheme

It doesn’t matter what sort of decorating scheme you choose, from Victorian to modern, there are fabulous bookends that will accent your décor and provide a unique touch to any room.  The great thing about bookends is that you don’t have to be a book lover or even a book collector to use them for decorating.  You can simply display the bookends as matched pairs anywhere you have the space. So while they have a function, they can also just be a piece of décor for your room.

Bookends are available in nearly any style, shape and design you can imagine.  Bookends are also made age-appropriate, so if you are decorating a child’s room you can find book ends that will fit in with the decor in a child’s room.  You’ll also find bookend sets that are appropriate for teens and young adults, which are more mature but still not on the too elegant side for their age.  You can even find bookends with nautical and animal themes as well as professional themes such as a medical caduceus for a doctor.  

If you have a display area such as a mantle you may want to have a few sets with just a book or two between them.   This can be accomplished with scroll bookends.

A Special Gift for a Special Child

What better gift for a child than a beautiful set of children’s bookends to hold up a line of their most prized volumes.

Two teddy bears, sitting back to back, or a cheerful and a sad clown – which to choose?  For those a little older you could opt for a tug-of-war set, cleverly designed and constructed so that it appears as if two sets of children are pulling the books in opposite directions. Alternatively, you could select a child sitting on a book, with another book as a backrest: one of these at each end of a row of children’s books would look really good.
